What To Expect From This Blog...

There are a lot of blogs out there. Blogs about personal lives, blogs about faith, blogs about politics, blogs about movies, music, and the arts, blogs about how to do and what not to do, blogs about... well you get the idea. All that to say there are a lot of blogs out there. So what is going to make this blog any different?

In this blog I plan to share a little about the counseling world. I am psychotherapist located in the Greater Houston Area. My main speciality is working with teenagers, especially young women, but I work with a little bit of everything in the counseling office. I love being a counselor and believe good, sound therapy can help anyone, if they are open to the experience.

My hope is that this blog will be a place people can find reliable, current material and resources to help them along their journey in life - whether that be through an article I share and discuss, or through a theme in contemporary culture I choose to talk about and explore. We are incredibly shaped and influenced by music, movies, television, advertising, technology, world events, etc., and the list could go on and on. I believe our culture plays a significant and extraordinary role in our every day life. Culture's omnipresent place in our lives can lead to new dreams, hopes for the future, and inward and outward healing, but also to real confusion, deep questions, unintentional blindness, and captivating fear.

I hope this blog can help us explore the ways we are influenced by our soupy culture - covertly and overtly, positively and negatively, beautifully and ugly - and offer a bit guidance as we try to navigate this tricky system of culture's highways and byways.

I am open for comments and feedback on what is discussed in the posts to come. Good discussion offers healthy perceptive, and I am always open to learning new things. Above all, I hope to leave my readers with a new idea or two and a better understanding or perspective of counseling in our world today.
